The writer and poet Iain Sinclair and the sculptor and performance artist Brian Catling will give readings of their work as part of Swedenborg House: Fourteen Interventions, the Society’s bicentenary exhibition. The evening will be a chance to view the show, and in particular items of interest from the Society’s archives, specifically selected by Iain Sinclair. The readings will be followed with a Q&A, and wine/refreshments.
IAIN SINCLAIR is a poet, novelist and filmmaker. He has published eleven volumes of poetry, including Lud Heat and Suicide Bridge. His five novels are White Chappell, Scarlet Tracings, Dining on Stones, and Downriver which won him the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and the Encore Award. His documentary prose includes Lights Out for the Territory, London Orbital and Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire: A Confidential Report.
BRIAN CATLING is a poet, sculptor, performance artist and Professor of Fine Art at Oxford University. He has published eight volumes of poetry, including The Stumbling Block, The Blindings, and Bobby Awl. Brian has performed and had installations commissioned all around the world, his latest solo show was at the Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh.
This event is now over. Iain and Brian’s work at Swedenborg House will soon be published as a book, Several Clouds Colliding. Launch date tbc.
