An exploration into what the soul could be through a journey of 21 objects, each weighing 21 grams and installed in the Swedenborg Society bookshop. This artwork is inspired by Emanuel Swedenborg’s writings on the soul and by Dr Duncan MacDongall’s discovery in 1907 that the weight of the human body drops by 21 grams at the moment of death.
PAUL TECKLENBERG was the Swedenborg Society’s first Artist in Residence (Dec 2009 – February 2010).
